Eastern Sicily Tour
4 days / 3 nights
A journey that combines the power of nature, historical and cultural richness, and the beauty of the baroque monuments of Eastern Sicily. Discover with us the timeless charm of this land.
Day 1: Etna and Taormina
Excursion to Mount Etna. It is said to be feminine, as generous as it is terrifying. According to mythology, its name comes from a nymph, and its majestic presence symbolizes wealth and devastating eruptions. We will reach the Silvestri Craters (1900 m), formed after the 1892 eruption, following an easy trail with unique views. The day will continue with a stop at a local farm to taste Etna wines, honey, and other typical products.
Taormina, described by Goethe as "a piece of paradise between land and sea," offers unique views and extraordinary monuments like the Ancient Theatre and the Odeon, providing an unforgettable experience.
Day 2: Syracuse and Noto
Syracuse, the ancient Neapolis, is the beating heart of the city, rich in history and extraordinary monuments. We will visit the Amphitheater, the Roman Theatre, the Altar of Hiero, the Ear of Dionysius, and the Latomia del Paradiso. The ancient island of Ortigia, the original nucleus of Syracuse, is home to the Cathedral, built on the remains of a Greek temple dedicated to Athena.
Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is an exceptional example of Sicilian Baroque. A stroll through its magnificent squares and splendid noble palaces will lead us to the stunning Cathedral of San Nicolò.
Day 3: Ragusa – Modica
Ragusa, the “city of silent alleys and stone buildings,” as Gesualdo Bufalino described it, will be explored through its historic Ibla district, known for its extraordinary Baroque architecture, the Norman Gate of San Giorgio, and the impressive San Giorgio Cathedral.
We will then head to Modica, famous for its Sicilian Baroque and chocolate tradition. We will visit the birthplace of Salvatore Quasimodo and stop at a historic confectionery to taste the renowned Modican handmade chocolate.
4° Giorno: Catania
Catania, città natale di Giovanni Verga e culla del “verismo”, ci accoglie nel cuore del suo centro storico, dove spicca la Piazza Duomo con l’Elefante in pietra lavica e la splendida Cattedrale dedicata a Sant’Agata.
